Due Dates (with Advanced Maternal Age) Seminar
For Birth Professionals
Over the past several years, controversy has swirled around the evidence-base for elective induction for women who reach their due date (or even earlier!). In this workshop, we will take an in-depth look at the research evidence on labor induction for women who go past their due date, and elective induction for women who are 35 years or older. We will cover the epidemiology, history, guidelines, and research on induction for these indications, as well as the controversies, limitations and strengths of the available evidence. After attending this online class, you will walk away with confidence in your ability to talk with clients about the potential harms and benefits of labor induction versus waiting for spontaneous labor with women who are “post-dates” or women who are late to the childbearing scene.
Did you know that the rate of labor induction has drastically increased over the last 30 years?
In this Evidence Based Birth® seminar, packed with facts, you will learn the evidence on 39-week induction and for induction at or past the due date. We cover the recent ARRIVE study in-depth and we’ll also cover a bit about “advanced maternal
age,” and discuss the actual numbers of increase in stillbirth with older age
